Gently heat the butter and garlic in a small saucepan until the garlic is softened but not browned. Add the anchovies, stir once, then whisk in the oil. Season with salt and pepper. Continue to cook over a low heat for 10 minutes, stirring from time to time. Transfer to a warmed bowl and serve immediately with a selection of vegetables.
