Za'atar spice mix is loved in the Middle East where it is used daily much as we use salt. Our genuine recipe (with real za??atar thyme) can be used as a dip for bread, like Dukkah, or mix it with salt to use as a salt alternative on all food. Add it to coleslaw or salad, coat fish or potatoes with it before frying.

Ideas for Za'atar
  1. You can use Za'atar as a dip with bread and extra virgin olive oil, like you would with Dukkah.
  2. Coat 6 fish fillets in a mix of 2 tablespoons of Za'atar and 2 tablespoons of fine cornmeal before frying.
  3. Add 3 tablespoons of Za'atar to a traditional coleslaw salad.
  4. Sprinkle Za'atar on flatbread that has been brushed with olive oil, then lightly toast.
  5. Slice up 5 vine-ripened tomatoes, 1 avocado and mix with 2 tablespoons of Za'atar and some extra virgin olive oil for a delicious salad.
  6. Za'atar goes well with potato, so try 2 tablespoons mixed into your mashed potato before serving, or sprinkle some on your oven wedges or roast potatoes.
  7. Za'atar is a tasty coating for roast chicken or fried chicken legs.
  8. For a great alternative to garlic bread, mix 3 teaspoons of Za'atar with 2 tablespoons of butter and spread this into vertical slices of a French loaf, and wrap in foil before heating in the oven.
